During this tour, we will drive into the Salzkammergut, the lake district area, where for more than 7.000 years the production of the “white” gold (salt) has been vital to the economy of the area. In addition, this region’s untouched beauty and natural resources resulted in it becoming one of the first regions in Austria to attract tourists. From the area’s thermal springs that attract spa guests to enhance health and cure ailments to the opportunities provided to nature enthusiasts, including bicycling and hikers alike, this area offers something for everyone.
Explore history and a nature that is difficult to find somewhere else. Quoting from an old saying from this region: “The human kind would not be even close possible to produce something this perfect as the nature formed this region!”
This tour ill begin in Salzburg, from where we will drive to the lake district area, passing the clear lake of Fuschl to the Wolfgang lake. We will visit the village of St. Gilgen and enjoy a boatride from St. Gilgen over Fürberg to St. Wolfgang, where we will discover this village with its pilgrim’s church, famous hotels and historical buildings. We will then drive to Bad Ischl, where we will see the town and the imperial’s villa. We will also visit one of the area’s most famous restaurants, offering local culinary delights before heading to the village of Hallstatt. We will then return to Salzburg via Gosau and the Lammer valley (famous for its winter sports area, as well as for hiking), where we will complete our fantastic journey.
